Jeroboam is the name of two of the kings of Israel.

Jeroboam was the first king of the northern kingdom of Israel, after the division of the kingdom at the death of Solomon. He was a son of Nebat and Zeruah, of the tribe of Ephraim. He ruled for twenty-two years and was succeeded by his son Nadab. Jeroboam erected two golden calves at Dan and Bethel, and asked the people to bring their offerings to these shrines, and not to Solomon's temple at Jerusalem. Thus, Jeroboam lead the Israelites into sin.

Jeroboam II was the fourteenth king of Israel. He was the son and successor of Jehoash. Jeroboam II ruled for forty-one years, and his reign was very prosperous. Jeroboam was a contemporary of the prophets Hosea, Joel, Jonah and Amos, all of whom condemned the materialism of the Israelites of the day. Jeroboam was succeeded by his son, Zachariah.
